PRAISE AND GLORY: PRAYERS OF PRAISE ENGAGING THE UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST
DAY 2 - THURSDAY
We believe in God, the Eternal Spirit, who is made
known to us in Jesus our brother, and to whose deeds we testify.
Eternal Spirit, Source of
all, we praise your majesty and glory.
We exult in You though You
are shrouded in mystery,
and though your ways and your
thoughts are beyond full discovery.
We rejoice that You have
revealed yourself
through the wonders of your
Creation,
by dream, prophet and
surprising messenger,
but most fully in Jesus of
Nazareth who dwelt in our midst,
shared wholly in our lives
and called us friends.
In the history of your
people, Israel
You have shown yourself as
God of compassion and mercy,
God of forgiveness, faithful
and tenacious in keeping covenant,
jealous of the devotion of
your people,
able to save from the most
harrowing trial,
able to transform
recalcitrant hearts,
blessing us with the earth’s
abundance
and by the nearness of your
Spirit.
You are worthy of all our praise,
God, our Source and our Hope,
and we give it gladly each
day and forever. Amen.
