PRAISE AND GLORY: PRAYERS OF PRAISE ENGAGING THE UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST
STATEMENT OF FAITH
DAY 13 - WEDNESDAY
In Jesus Christ, God has come to us and shared our
common lot.
God of all, we rejoice that
in Jesus You have taken on
all that it means to be
human.
You have shared our common
lot from birth to death:
growing to maturity in times
of trouble, knowing temptation,
dripping with the waters of
baptism
while answering the summons
to your vocation.
You knew hunger and thirst and
nights without a place for your head.
You experienced friendship
and its betrayal, solitude and loneliness,
miraculous moments and
unanswered prayer.
You knew that death awaited
You, yet You plunged toward it
like a diver springing from a
cliff on a cloudy night.
You drank the cup that made
you plead and sweat blood.
You drank it – hard as it
was, bitter as it was,
so terrible and yet so
freighted with glory. Amen.
