PRAISE AND GLORY: PRAYERS OF PRAISE ENGAGING THE UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST STATEMENT OF FAITH

DAY 22 - SATURDAY

God calls us into the church to accept the cost and joy of discipleship.

You who are Way, Truth and Life,

You have called us together to follow You

in paths that are often difficult and dangerous.

You have called us to bear a cross - just as You did –

to suffer and even die in order to live your will wholly

in the midst of opposing forces that reject generosity and hospitality,

forgiveness and compassion, as expressions of the authentic life

You desire for your people.

We answer your call to the disciplines and challenges of faith,

and ask your aid in meeting them.

At the same time,

we rejoice that even in the midst of trials and tumultuous times,

we often find that your way seems no sacrifice or burden to us.

We go forth with a light step, quick to rejoice and full of a peace

that we cannot fully explain,

but that we find enriched by faithful ones

who have joined hands with us to seek and share your glory.  Amen.
