PRAISE AND GLORY: PRAYERS OF PRAISE ENGAGING THE UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST
DAY 11 - MONDAY
God judges all humanity and all nations by that will
of righteousness declared through prophets and apostles.
God of all the earth, we
praise You for your gracious governance.
We rejoice in your demand for
justice
and trust You to loose every
bond of oppression.
We thank You for raising up
people who will model reconciliation,
and prepare a way for your
peace
in every place where justice
is not done
and where it seems a strange
and distant hope.
Even now, we know that You
are working in hidden, but sure ways
to undermine and topple
powers that thrive by greed and exploitation.
We rejoice that You are One
who acts on behalf of the poor:
reversing fortunes and
restoring hope by declaring good news,
freeing those who are captive
and controlled,
healing the blind and lame,
restoring property and canceling debts.
Your desire and your action rouses
us to action and solidarity
with the poor and powerless as
an act of grateful praise. Amen.
