DAY 14 - THURSDAY
In Jesus Christ, God has come to us, conquering sin
and death.
O Christ, victorious over all
that would
clutch, capture, diminish and
annul our lives,
how do we applaud You
adequately, how hymn your praise in ways
that comprehend the depth of
your accomplishment?
By your obedient choice, and through
your terrible agony,
You have opened to us the
great mystery of God’s liberating love.
You have given us days of
light and beauty
and nights of peaceful rest
by terminating the power of
sin and death that ruled our lives.
Sin’s shackles lie in heaps
around us.
Death’s sting has been
pulled.
Though we falter and fail at
times,
and remember our bondage with
strange fondness,
You urge us toward freedom and
light the way before us
in ways that dispel our
fears.
At waters of passage and in
valleys of death
You calm our hearts by your
constant companionship
and give us courage to walk
in unknown places with assured steps.
O Christ, O Glorious One, we
rejoice in your victory! Amen. Amen.
