PRAYING FOR GOD’S REIGN: LENTEN
PRAYERS
DAY 29: MONDAY
Give us this day our daily bread
Generous One, we humble ourselves to ask
You to meet our needs for today. We ask in confidence because You have provided
for us so consistently that we have no cause to doubt You.
You have fed us in green pastures. You
have set a table for us in the wilderness. You have given us bread from heaven.
In compassion, You have fed multitudes who were like sheep without a shepherd.
Because of your faithfulness, we are not asking for, or worrying about, the
needs of tomorrow and the next day, just today.
You provide enough. Enable us to say
“Enough!” Enable us to give up our anxious craving. Enable us to be satisfied
with what You provide and turn from the temptation to scrape together more and
more.
Forgive us when we do not trust You to
provide. Forgive us when we do not see the opportunities for sharing that You
create so that we may be united with our neighbors in trusting You each day.
We rejoice and thank You for your
unstinting generosity. Amen.
