FRIDAY
Mark 9:1-13 (I have added verse 1 to the assigned reading)
O God,
though your reign has not come to fullness, some of us, like some of Jesus’
disciples, have seen that it is already present, in power, and that it stands
in opposition to every form of power and authority that vaunts itself as source
of well-being and peace, or that extends itself by deadly acts and
self-worship.
We have
seen that Jesus embodies both the warnings and promises of Israel’s instruction
and prophecy. In Jesus, we have encountered your wisdom and your glory.
Whether
bedazzled in Jesus’ presence, or enshrouded in confusion or mystery, we have
heard your instruction to listen to Jesus, your Beloved. We have heard, and we
are trying to live our entire lives as acts of worship and praise to You.
Enable us
to be faithful and fruitful followers of Jesus. Help us point others to the One
who is radiant among us. Amen.
