LENTEN PRAYERS 2018: PRAYING THE DAILY GOSPEL
SIXTH
THURSDAY
Mark 10:17-31
Jesus, our
Teacher, we rejoice that we may come to You with the questions that lie in the most
sensitive places in our minds. You listen and hear us in our anxious need.
We are
grateful that when we are overly sure of our own righteousness You do not pronounce
judgement upon us but look upon us and love us. And we are thankful that You
are able to see the gaps in our fidelity—the idols that we have erected for our
own benefit--and that You call us to action that exposes them.
Expose the
idols that now control us! Call us to action that breaks their power in our
lives. Free us from every form of bondage that keeps us from experiencing the
fullness of life that You desire for us.
We
acknowledge that all things are possible with God. We rejoice that You bring
people into the realm of God who seem to have no chance of dwelling in the
Divine Presence. That includes us!
Some of us
have left much in order to follow You. As we follow, enable us to rejoice in
the abundant gifts that we share within the broad community of faith that looks
to You for salvation, wisdom, and guidance. Amen.
