LENTEN PRAYERS
WALKING WITH JESUS
Day 22: Saturday
Mark 4:35-41
Jesus! We are so often terrified by circumstances
that buffet and toss us in ways that are beyond our ability to control. We panic!
We imagine that You are threatened by that which frightens us. We imagine that chaos will drown
everything. Or we imagine that You don’t
even care about the threats that surround us, even as we try to rouse You to
action with our fearful cries.
You do not share our
fear. You do not panic. You do not lose your equilibrium when we are
buffeted. But you are able to act. You are able to speak a word that calms the
chaos of our lives. You remind us that
You are sovereign over all things and we are not.
In the aftermath of storm
and stillness, your questions penetrate our hearts: “Why are you afraid? Are you without faith?” We do not know why we are afraid. We do know that our faith is small. Extinguish our fears. Increase our faith.
We continue to walk with You
In spite of our fears and our little faith.
As we see You act among us, You leave us in awe. Amen.
