Prayer for March 22-28, 2015
Sermon Text: Jeremiah 31:31-34

That knowledge of You will generate fruit for your reign among us

God, like some in Israel, we have often been unfaithful to You.  You have revealed yourself to us and enabled us to know You.  You have taken us by the hand and led us out of various forms of bondage.  You have led us into broad places where we have lived in new freedom and enjoyed the abundance of your provision.  You have created a new covenant with us through Christ Jesus.  You have placed your law in our minds and written it on our hearts.  You have provided all that we need for a life of fidelity and fruitfulness.

Yet we have gone our own ways.  We have chased after empty pleasures and pursued false gods.  So, we have diminished ourselves and fogotten who we are, and find ourselves in need, again, of instruction about who You are, that we may walk with You in faithfulness each day.

Do your work of renewal in us again.  Rewrite the words that have become obscured by our poor choices.  Restore our memory of who You are and who we are in relationship with You.  Let all of us know You in ways that generate fruit for your reign among us. And may we help spread knowledge of You among our neighbors and among the nations.  Amen.
